What do you use to create your pictures?  I use colored pencils of all brands and types. Colored pencils give me the ability to create many different shades of color. They also are great for doing fine line drawing, such as pet whiskers, hair, and eye highlights.

What do I need to provide for you to do a sketch of my pet?  I work from your photos. You can send me your pet's photos electronically via email, or you can give me the actual photos (either in person or by mail). I return all physical photos when I deliver the sketch to you.

Do the photos need to be professionally done or can I just give you my snapshots?  Professional pictures are fine, but your snapshots are usually the best because they capture your pet's true expressions. Here are a few photo hints:

·      Take your pet's picture at THEIR eye level. This keeps the perspective accurate.

·      High quality pictures are a must. The more clear the photo, the better the sketch.

·      Several pictures are best, if possible. This lets me see all of your pet's unique features.

Do you just do portraits, or can you do whole-body sketches of my pet?  The best way to capture your pet's expression is to do a portrait, which includes the head and shoulders. I've done whole body sketches when it's critical to the essence of the art piece, but usually it's best to do the head and shoulders only.

How long does it take for you to complete a sketch of my pet?  I can usually complete a color sketch of your pet in 7-10 days, once I begin. I have a waiting list, though, so it takes some time for me to begin your sketch. The normal wait time is usually about 1-2 months.

What size are your sketches?  All my sketches are 9"X12". I use acid-free paper so they will last a very long time, and I spray the finished sketch with a preservative to prevent any fading.

Do you frame my pet's sketch?  Your sketch will be matted to 11"X14". You can choose to frame your sketch on your own, or I can do it for you. I offer two very nice frames that you can purchase for a reasonable price. I have a sleek black metal frame for those who want a nice contemporary look, and I offer a beautiful oak wood frame that would fit wonderfully in more traditional decors.

How will you deliver my sketch?  I usually like to hand-deliver the sketch if it's possible. I also love to meet the pet, if you wish to bring him or her along. Otherwise I will mail the sketch to you through the postal service.

Can I get note cards or other Sketch-Your-Pet items of my pet without having you do an original 9"X12" sketch?  All my products are created from the original, so the original must be finished first. I keep an electronic version of the original from which I make all the other Sketch-Your-Pet products.
