A great photo means a great, hand-drawn portrait of your pet. However, catching your pet’s personality on camera can be frustrating. They don’t take direction well, we know. But, by following these tips you should be able to get that “just right” shot of your pet.
Natural lighting is best. Whenever possible take your photos outside or in a room with lots of natural lighting.
Get down to their level. We often think of portraits as being taken with a tripod. But, to capture your pets personality you may need to go to them, which means taking the photo at your pet’s eye level.
Don’t forget to keep the eyes sharp. When focusing, make sure the eyes are clear.
Get up close. Move in close to your subject in order to capture your pet’s personality and to add detail and impact to your portrait
Groom your pet the day you plan to take your photograph. If possible (and applicable) give your pet a bath, brush her out and clean her teeth. A groomed pet takes the best picture.
Keep your camera lens clean. Any foreign objects on the lens of your camera will interfere with the image quality.
Schedule and plan your photo shoot. You may get a great shot without planning, but if you don’t already have a photo you like, a little planning will go a long way.
